Biography

Originally from the UK, architect Simon King has over 20 years of experience in practice. Prior to establishing his own practice with Caitlyn, Simon had worked with some of the world’s leading architects across the world – including Sir Richard Rogers in London.

Originally from Adelaide, interior designer Caitlyn King applies a holistic approach to architecture and interior design. Caitlyn worked with some of Australia’s most prestigious architects and interior designers prior to setting up practice with Simon.

Approach

The duo’s mantra from the outset was to design beautiful houses that consciously respond to a client’s needs and the way they choose to live. There is not a highly definable ‘signature’, but rather a design approach that carefully responds to each individual client and site, both displaying unique characteristics.

Each design conceals a rigorous approach from the overall structure through to the home’s individual components that display a rationale and logic with each design.

Working with leading consultants, from engineers to landscape architects, king architecture + interiors enjoys working at the domestic scale of architecture, where there is the high level of detail and a quality that comes with the time and dedication spent with clients.

The client’s brief is paramount in the design and construction process, with an understanding of not only a client’s hopes and desires, but the reality in terms of budgetary and also site constraints.
